Side-event of the UNA-Russia “Halfway towards 2030: cooperation between regions, cities and businesses to accelerate transformations for achieving the SDGs while recovering from the coronavirus disease (Covid19)”

The UN Association of Russia is organizing on July 19, 2023 the side-event “Halfway towards 2030: cooperation between regions, cities and businesses to accelerate transformations for achieving the SDGs while recovering from the coronavirus disease (Covid19)” in the margins of the 2023 High-Level Political Forum on sustainable development (HLPF).

The event will focus on the current achievements and lessons learned from the SDGs’ strategies and practices. Within the framework of the event, the participants will consider the sustainable practices of Russia, Tajikistan, other countries of the Asia-Pacific and the ECE regions which are implemented in various sectors, at various levels and can be expanded and replicated around the globe. Sustainable strategies, partnerships, business projects related to the SDGs 6,7,9,11 and 17 along with the Voluntary local reviews of Russian regions and cities will be presented and discussed. Special attention will be devoted to plans for the second halfway towards 2030.

Representatives of the Russian Regions (Ministers and members of the Government from Moscow, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Sverdlovsk, Samara regions and others), heads and members of the NGOs from different countries, representatives of business, the UN bodies, the Russian and other countries embassies and missions will participate in the event. The speakers’ presentations will be followed by fruitful discussions based on the experience accumulated from previous events held in the margins of the RFSD-2023, AFSD-2023, COP-27.
